About the Item

On September 25, 2020, the Director of National Parks of Australia asked the administration of the Internet corporation Google to remove all images of the sacred rock Uluru from the Google Street View service in order to prevent virtual climbing to the top. The texture of this natural overgrowth, consisting of a special sandstone, constantly changes its color under the influence of sunlight. It is even believed by some that this multifaceted landscape can completely change every second.

The Song of the Rock series focuses the viewer's attention on the mythical image of sacred Uluru. These generative landscapes, designed to preserve the disappearing appearance of the rock, were created using the GAN neural network. For development, photos of Google Street View users from 2016, found on Google backups on the Internet, were used.
